Dynasty Portrait is a small, independent studio run by Gong Huiling that makes one thing: AI portraits of you in traditional Chinese dress. Upload a single selfie and get a full-body portrait in the outfit, headwear and setting you choose — still your face.

Why we built it

Hanfu, the qipao and the Xunpu flower crown have become some of the most shared looks on social media, and photo studios in Quanzhou, Xi'an and Hangzhou are popular with travellers who want them. Most people who love these looks will never get to one of those studios. Dynasty Portrait lets anyone try them from home, in about a minute, and learn a little about each style along the way.

The looks

• Xunpu Flower Crown — Turn one selfie into a full-body Xunpu flower crown (zanhuawei) portrait — the viral Quanzhou hairpin-flower look.
• Ming Horse-Face Skirt — See yourself in a Ming dynasty mamianqun (horse-face skirt) — gold-woven pleats, hair ornaments, palace and garden scenes.
• Qipao — Become a 1930s Shanghai icon in a silk qipao (cheongsam) — or a changshan and magua for men.
• Song Dynasty Hanfu — Get a Song dynasty hanfu portrait from one selfie — soft beizi layers, garden pavilions and scholar robes for men.
• Tang Suit — A sharp mandarin-collar tang suit (tangzhuang) portrait from one selfie — perfect for Lunar New Year, men's and women's looks.

How it works

• Every portrait is generated by OpenAI GPT Image 2.5, run through fal.ai. Results are AI-generated images, not photographs, and are labelled as AI-generated.
• You choose the style, headwear and outfit from fixed menus; pose, expression and background are varied automatically. There are no free-text prompts.
• Portraits are of one adult — the person who uploaded the photo. We don't offer group, couple or face-swap features.
• Your selfie is deleted within 24 hours and is never used to train AI. Read the privacy policy and our AI & acceptable use policy.

Pricing

3 watermarked previews are free. HD portraits are sold in one-time packs, with no subscription — see pricing. Payments are handled by Waffo, our Merchant of Record, so we never see or store your card details.
